Mountain Day t-shirt on sale! 

We will be selling this year’s Mountain Day t-shirt daily (except weekends) starting 09/29 , in Paresky from 11:30-1:00. T-shirts until they’re ALL sold -  cost $10 and cash or venmo is accepted. Profits will go to a non-profit organization. T-shirts will only be sold before Mountain Day (first possible Mountain Day is 10/6!), so get your shirts now! See the shirt below featuring art by Zoe Gabriel on the front and Jiwoo Han on the back. 


Wanna speak for the trees? 

The newly formed Tree Advisory Committee is looking for a student member to serve who is interested in improving the health, resiliency, and ecological function of the campus community forest through advocacy, education, and conservation. Instructor Monitor Training in the Bouldering Barn

There will be a training on October 5 from 7 -9  PM for anyone interested in working at the WOC Bouldering Barn.  The 2 hour session will explain all the necessary policies and procedures as well as training you to help others climb. In addition to the training session, all new IMs are required to work with an experienced IM for two sessions and pass a practical examination before being hired and leading their own sessions. Mountain Day?? Coming on a beautiful day in October…..


Sign up for the Accessibility Van for Mountain Day!

Mountain Day season is almost upon us! If you need accessible transport to either Stone Hill OR Stony Ledge (i.e. you would not otherwise be able to hike/walk to these locations but would still like to attend), please fill out this form to reserve a spot for the van to either or both locations. Space is limited. Vans will leave campus and drive directly to the festivities. Once on Stone Hill and Stony Ledge, there will be donuts, cider, scenic vistas, and various music performances. PLEASE NOTE: Spots in the van are limited so please be considerate of space and fill out this form ASAP if you need a spot. We cannot guarantee transport once the van is full. 


Students are prohibited from driving personal vehicles to Stony Ledge as there is no parking area. Bouldering Barn Open Hours

Come visit the WOC Bouldering Facility located on Walden St. and Hoxsey. Climbing shoes and chalk are provided. Bring a water bottle! There will only be room for 10 climbers and 1 staff person in the space at one time.  Before walking to the Bouldering Barn click here to check the (mostly) current number of users in the building.


M & W 7 pm - 9 pm, 

T & Th 4 pm - 7 pm (Thursday 4-5:30pm are non-cis-male hours),

F 2 - 4 pm

Sa & Su 2 pm - 5 pm

Thursday:

Non-male identifying hike: join us for a lovely Thursday afternoon hike along the Taconic Crest trail! We will walk about 5 miles with moderate to step terrain. Wear hiking boots or other active shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! Also, bring a filled water bottle and a snack. We’ll meet on Paresky steps at 3 pm. Friday:

IF it is not Mt. Day there will be a Weekly sunrise hike…..BUT will begin a little later - 6:40AM and return at 9:30AM due to waiting for the President’s announcement –Meet on Paresky steps, Baxter lawn side) at 6:40 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for the weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will be wet, muddy and rocky! Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp/flashlight and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 9:30AM. WOW (Water of the Week) Returns…barring Mtn. Day

WOW!!! What better way to celebrate the end of the week than a little swim in some beautiful refreshing local water? Lucky for you, Water of the Week is making its second appearance. Join the water-loving Brianna and Innes on an excursion to the Cascades trail where we’ll hike, swim and hang for a bit before heading back to campus, getting back no later than 6:15. Meet behind Resky at 4:30 with something to swim in and a towel! Reminder that if it’s Mtn. Day this event will not take place. Sign up on this form to be WOWed!!! Saturday:

Top Rope Rock Climbing at Hanging Mountain: Saturday, 10/10 - 9AM

Join us for an all-day climbing trip to Hanging Mountain! We’ll depart at 9 am from the WOC Equipment Room in Paresky and return by 5 pm at the latest. After an hour and 15 minute drive and a brief approach hike, we’ll spend a couple hours climbing! The trip requires that you know how to top rope belay - we can certify you the morning of. Wear comfortable and stretchy clothes and bring lunch food and a water bottle for the day. Climbing gear will be provided as needed the morning of. Contact Ben ([log in to unmask]) with any question! Monday (reading period):

Canoeing the Housatonic River Lenox, MA  Leaving campus at 9:30AM and returning by 3:30pm.  A great fall paddle on a beautiful gentle flowing river - come see the  Fall colors along the ancient river banks!  Sign up on this form - limited space!
