Welcome back to campus and WOC – your home for adventure!! It may not look too wintery on campus, but Jiminy and Prospect are making snow and we're excited to get folks out skiing and snowboarding all winter! All events are open to the Williams College community.

Winter Study Announcements:

ALL WINTER STUDY PE CLASSES COMMENCE NEXT WEEK - there are no classes this week.

Payment for the PE classes & the non-PE ski passes is via credit/debit card - you will pay Jiminy directly - please bring a phone or other device to complete the purchase.

Winter Study PE Sign-ups

Winter study WOC PE sign-ups (and January ski pass sales see below) will take place TODAY - Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00-8:00 pm in Lasell Gymnasium. Students who want to take a downhill ski, snowboard, telemark ski, cross country ski, or snowshoe class can sign up, in person, at this time.


Learn to ski/snowboard passes for Jiminy Peak will be available at the discounted price of $135 this year (regular price would be ~$440-675), including 3-days of ski pass, rentals, instruction, and transportation to the mountain.


Cross country skiing trail fees will depend on conditions, but will be around $30 for the full 3-classes of instruction. All transportation, instruction, and equipment provided by WOC.


Snowshoeing has no fee.


Winter Study Non-PE Ski Pass Sales - Discounted Jiminy Peak ski passes 

Discounted January passes for Jiminy will be available for purchase on Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00-8:00 pm in Lasell Gymnasium (financial assistance not available). Only good for Monday - Friday 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

NEW Winter Study PE offering! - Indoor Bouldering

In addition to all the outdoor/snow based PE offerings this Winter Study, WOC is excited to add a new option, Indoor Bouldering, which will be taught on Wednesday & Friday 1:00-2:30pm in the Bouldering Barn. Sign ups for this class will take place at the same time & place as other WOC Winter Study PE - Wednesday, January 3rd from 6:00-8:00 pm in Lasell Gymnasium.

There will be Thursday 11:30 - 1:30 fac/staff Bouldering Barn hours during Winter Study


Bouldering Barn Open Hours

Come visit the WOC Bouldering Facility located on Walden St. and Hoxsey.  Climbing shoes and chalk are provided. Bring a water bottle! There will only be room for 10 climbers and 1 staff person in the space at one time.  Before walking to the Bouldering Barn click here to check the (mostly) current number of users in the building. 


Thu 4 - 7 (Thursday 4-5:30pm are non-cis-male hours)

Fri 2 - 4 pm

Sa and Su 2 - 5 pm

Thursday:

First Ski Bus of the Winter!

Starting on Thursday of this week (1/4) WOC will have buses going to Jiminy every Monday through Friday throughout Winter Study. The buses will leave from Mission Park Drive, behind Chapin, promptly at 1:00 pm (please arrive by 12:50 to ensure the bus is loaded and can depart at 1:00 pm). The buses leave Jiminy to return to campus at 4:30 pm. Transportation on the bus is free, however you will need to provide your own skis and lift tickets - see above for discounted Williams pricing for January and PE classes to learn to ski or snowboard. The bus leaves Jiminy at 4:30 pm and will be back on campus by 5:00 pm. (REMINDER, no PE classes this week, just free skiing).


Friday:

Weekly Sunrise Hike – a “wake up” and down trek on Pine Cobble

Meet on Paresky steps (Baxter lawn side) at 5:55 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - (sunrise at 7:23 AM). This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for the chilly weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will possibly be icy,  wet, muddy and rocky! Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp/flashlight - it will be dark!! and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:45AM. Please sign up here or email [log in to unmask] with any questions!
