Every year WOC sells t-shirts for Mountain Day - all profit goes to a charitable outdoor organization of the boards choosing. We’re looking for this year’s 2023 FRONT only design - needs to have “Mountain Day 2023” incorporated in design! The winner will receive a shirt free of charge and eternal fame. We are too, and we’re looking for excited folks to lead the hikes! You should have a current wilderness first aid cert, and need to attend a brief 45 minute hike leader meeting on Sunday, 10/01 at 7:30PM, Paresky Auditorium. Leaders must be available for each of the first three Fridays of October 8, 15, 27. You’ll get a Mountain Day leader tee shirt – and definite ‘resume builder’ in return! If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should consider applying to be an Outdoor Educator <https://learning-in-action.williams.edu/education-outreach/hopkins-forest-educators/> this fall. Work with the Hopkins Memorial Forest staff and a team of Williams students to develop and host K-6 field trips for local elementary schools. Food webs, ecosystems, rocks, and land history are some of the topics classes study. Work with kids and get paid to teach, mentor, and play with kids in the woods! All Williams students are welcome. All students paid. All transportation is covered. No experience is necessary. All training is provided. This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for the weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will be wet, muddy and rocky! Bring a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:45AM.
