Mountain Day?? Coming on a beautiful day in October…..

*Design the Mountain Day T-Shirt! Every year WOC sells t-shirts for Mountain Day - all profit goes to a charitable outdoor organization of the boards choosing. We’re looking for this year’s 2023 FRONT only  design - needs to have “Mountain Day 2023” incorporated in design!  The winner will receive a shirt free of charge and eternal fame. *Mountain Day Hike Leaders Wanted: Already psyched for Mountain Day? We are too, and we’re looking for excited folks to lead the hikes! You should have a current wilderness first aid cert, and need to attend a brief 45 minute hike leader meeting on Sunday, 10/01 at 7:30PM, Paresky Auditorium.  Leaders must be available for each of the first three Fridays of October 8, 15, 27.  You’ll get a Mountain Day leader tee shirt – and definite ‘resume builder’ in return!  Please fill out this form.and contact Ben Connor ([log in to unmask]) with any questions! *Local outdoor job opportunity IF You enjoy..

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should consider applying to be an Outdoor Educator this fall. Work with the Hopkins Memorial Forest staff and a team of Williams students to develop and host K-6 field trips for local elementary schools. Food webs, ecosystems, rocks, and land history are some of the topics classes study.

Work with kids and get paid to teach, mentor, and play with kids in the woods! 

All Williams students are welcome. All students paid. All transportation is covered. No experience is necessary. All training is provided.

Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week - Work Hours:  Field trips between 8 am-12 pm ThursdaysSubmit our Common Application that gives contact information and class schedule. Pay $15/hr.  Contact Jennifer Swoap  [log in to unmask]

Friday:


The FIRST weekly sunrise hike of this academic year - see if you can join us on everyone for a “wake up” and down trek on Pine Cobble.** Meet on Paresky steps, Baxter lawn side) at 5:55 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - (sunrise at 6:24 AM). This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for the weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will be wet, muddy and rocky!  Bring a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:45AM.
