*EXCITING and FUN WINTER STUDY ‘23 WOC PE Offerings & General Downhill Skiing Info

Downhill skiing/snowboarding costs are already reduced but there is also financial aid available for WOC winter study PE beginner classes ONLY for downhill ski, snowboard or cross country ski. *SUMMER TRAIL CREW POSITIONS AVAILABLE!!! Williamstown Rural Lands (WRL), a private, non-profit land trust in Williamstown, Massachusetts – in conjunction with the Williams Outing Club (WOC) – is offering two (2) seasonal Trail Steward positions to individuals interested in exploring careers related to the environment and outdoor recreation. One of the two positions is funded by the Robert Ikemori Quay '04 Outing Club Memorial Fellowship.  8 week position start June 13 ends Aug. 4, 2023 - For more information go to:   2023 Trail Steward Internship  application is due by Dec. 18!!  Questions contact: Dan Gura ‘10 at [log in to unmask]


Bamboo WOC t-shirts make the perfect holiday gifts! Lots of great color options and made from the softest materials! Shirts are $20 (cash or Venmo) and sizes XS-XL. Available in the Equipment Room during open hours (M-Th 12:30-1:30, F 12-2).


Hunting (rifle/shotgun) season has begun! HMF is CLOSED until Dec. 11

NY: Nov. 19 - Dec. 11  

MA: Nov. 28 - Dec. 10 (no hunting on Sundays in MA).  

If going into the woods be aware and wear bright colors!  The WOC equipment Room has REFLECTIVE ORANGE VESTS and HATS for loan on a 24 hour basis.

We want your feedback on trips! Have you recently gone on a trip and want to give us feedback on COVID-19 precautions and how things went? Fill out our feedback form after your trip so we know how we’re doing!

Monday:

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All equipment provided.

 

Tuesday:

Open WOC Board Meeting!

Come see some of the logistical workings of WOC! If you are interested in what the Board does, are considering becoming a trip leader, or just want to meet some more people who love the outdoors please join us at 7:15pm in the Zilhka Center!

 

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All equipment provided. 

 

Wednesday:

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All equipment provided. 

 

 

Thursday:

Climbing Wall open!  Non cis-male climbing from 8 - 9 pm!  From 9 - 10 there will be open climbing at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall. No experience necessary.  All equipment provided.  

 

Campus primal scream! Meet on the marble blocks across from Paresky at 9:30pm, and we will all scream together—to let out end-of-semester jitters, feel united with our peers, find joy in the weirdness, etc etc.

 

 

Friday:

Weekly sunrise hike– a “wake up” and down trek on Pine Cobble.** Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - (sunrise at 7:05 AM). This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for cold weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will be muddy and rocky! Winter hats and gloves needed for warmth at the summit. Bring a headlamp/flashlight,, a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:45AM. Please sign up on this form or email da1 with any questions!
