Hello WOC family! Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we have
going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College community.


Announcements

WOC Grand Canyon spring break trail crew service trip!!  Just “booking”
ahead: March 18 - April 1, 2023.  Interested in a trip of a lifetime?  14
days in Arizona - seven of them at the bottom of the Grand Canyon!!

Hunting (rifle/shotgun) season has begun!

VT: Nov. 12 – Nov.27  NY: Nov. 19 - Dec. 11  MA: Nov. 28 - Dec. 10 no
hunting on Sundays in MA.  If going into the woods be aware and wear bright
colors!  The WOC equipment Room has Reflective Orange vests for loan on a
24 hour basis.



*Camp Moosilauke * *Summer Camp Trip Leader Jobs for Hiking, Rock Climbing,
and Mountain Biking in New Hampshire*. Camp Moosilauke also offers many
land sports. Their water sport positions include kayaking, sailing, paddle
boarding, rowing, swimming, fishing, and canoeing. The dates are June 12
through August 9, and you can work for as many weeks as you are available.

Monday:

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.



Tuesday:

Open WOC Board Meeting!

Come see some of the logistical workings of WOC! If you are interested in
what the Board does, are considering becoming a trip leader, or just want
to meet some more people who love the outdoors please join us at 7:15pm in
the Zilhka Center!

GORP Making !!! Make GORP (good ole raisins and peanuts) with us! You may
remember this delicious food from WOOLF, camp, or just life. If not, now is
the perfect time to try it! Note that this GORP will include nuts:
hopefully an allergy free GORP making workshop will be held at a later
date. We will be meeting at 4pm in Baxter Hall! Email Isabel (isa2) with
any questions or concerns.



Thursday:

Climbing Wall open!  Non cis-male climbing from 8 - 9 pm!  From 9 - 10
there will be open climbing at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall. No experience
necessary.  All equipment provided.


Friday:

Weekly sunrise hike– a “wake up” and down trek on Pine Cobble.** Meet on
Paresky steps at 6:00 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - (sunrise at 6:48
AM). This is a 3 mile round trip hike with one thousand foot elevation gain
to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!!
Dress for the weather and wear good footwear for a trail that will be muddy
and rocky! Winter hats and gloves needed for warmth at the summit. Bring a
headlamp/flashlight, a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return
to campus by 8:45 AM. Please sign up on this form

CISA x WOC Climbing Night

Join CISA for a climbing night in the field house from 8-10pm on friday
night! This event is open to all CISA members. Email Li (lyp1) with any
questions or to sign-up (if you have not yet signed up through CISA)!


Saturday:

Berlin Mountain Hike on underrated trails!

Come stretch out your legs after a long week of studying on this fun and
challenging hike on awesome, underused trails in the Williams area! We will
summit Mount Berlin via the Berlin Pass Trail up to the Taconic Crest. We
will leave Saturday morning at 9am and expect to get back before 1pm. The
round trip should be around 4.0 miles with ~1200 feet of elevation gain on
some steep, rocky, and potentially slippery terrain. There will be a lovely
view from the top of Berlin now that the leaves are gone 🤩 👁 ‼️ Bring
appropriate clothing for the weather, sturdy footwear (it could be slick
with the leaves!), at least two liters of water, any food you want, and a
pack to carry it all in. Sign up on this form

Sunday:



Chestnut Trail to Pine Cobble Take a hike to Pine Cobble via the Chestnut
Trail! A beautiful trail with some rocky and steeper sections. Meet at
Resky steps at 9:30am, return to campus at some time around 2pm. Make sure
to have comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the (most likely cold
and winterish) weather. Please sign up on this form
