Hello WOC family! Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we have going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College community.
Summer Jobs Lead wilderness expeditions in the Adirondacks, Greens, & White Mountains this Summer!
Still looking for a summer job? Sara Martin (’05) just started a job as a camp director in Vermont and is looking for staff to lead trips with campers aged 11-14! Canoeing, backpacking, rock-climbing–staff and campers do it all, and WOC folks would bring great experience and energy to the team. Chewonki in Maine…is looking for Outdoor Leaders and staff!
Whitewater Kayaking (needs to be 21+) Leading trips to Umbagog, Big Eddy, Seboomook, the Sheepscot wave, etc
Sea Kayaking (can be 20+) Trips include 3-week Maine Coast Kayak, 5-week Boatbuilders, and 4-day Hockomock bay trips.
Canoe/Backpacking (can be 20+): Trips until 12-day Allagash and 8-day Flagstaff/Bigelow combo trip
Folks interested in the trip leader position can read more and apply here. Position includes room/board for full summer season. If folks don't have their WFR, Chewonki will cover 75% of it.
We're also hiring folks who want to work the logistics side of supporting trips. This includes working in our food supply kitchen, helping trip leaders plan and prep trip food, supporting trip leaders with packing gear, doing resupply drives all over Maine, and driving trips in and out from their trips. This position is paid hourly and does not include housing. Folks can read more about the Logistics Assistant position here.
All summer staff also receive a $500 sign-on incentive at the end of the summer.

Climbing Wall open! There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House. No experience necessary. All equipment provided. This is for WOC members only and memberships are available at the wall.

There once was a building named Chapin
Whose height resisted all estimatin’.
So some Outing Club nerds with triangles and the sun
Decided to measure it for fun!
Meet us at 2PM on Chapin Steps to use the magic of similar triangles, a measuring tape, shadows, and a broom to estimate the height of Chapin Hall and other buildings on campus! Sign up here and email Justyn (jmf10) with any questions!

Thursday:
Climbing Wall open! Non cis-male climbing from 8 - 9 pm! From 9 - 10 all WOC members are welcome and memberships are available at the wall. No experience necessary. All equipment provided. Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.
Friday:
Weekly sunrise hike– a “wake up” and down trek on Pine Cobble. Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM for a dawn good sunrise hike - (sunrise at 5:40AM). This is a 3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!! Dress for the weather - and good footwear for a trail that will be muddy, wet and always rocky! Bring a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:30AM. Gorp Making! Join us at Paresky near Baxter Hall at 7 PM to make the greatest snack of all time- gorp, a trail mix extravaganza. Just bring your lovely self, a mask, and a love of snacks. Email Georgia at [log in to unmask] if you have any questions!
Saturday:
Stone Hill Bouldering! Meet at the Equipment Room at 10:00 AM for a chance to boulder at Stone Hill. We’ll drive to the top of the clark and hike from there to our bouldering spot.
