Announcements

Bouldering Cave Design Team!

Exciting news-- this summer, WOC is planning to build a bouldering cave in the garage by IWS, and we are looking for people to join the design team!! Check out the interest form for more info and fill it out by 10/28 at 5pm if you're interested! Also, feel free to reach out to Isabel ([log in to unmask]), Nick ([log in to unmask]), and/or Abby ([log in to unmask]) with any questions or comments.


Sign up for the Winter study LEAD 18 - SOLO First Responder Wilderness Emergency care course.  This is a continuous 9 day, 72 hour comprehensive hands on in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with wilderness based medical emergencies. The course runs 9 consecutive days straight from 9AM–5PM. The instructor will be provided by SOLO (Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities). Cost is $450. If interested please submit a statement of purpose by Oct. 29 to [log in to unmask], explaining why you want to take the course and hope to gain from the experience.

JEDI weekly lunch! Join us to talk about anti-racism and responding to accessibility issues in the outdoors on Tuesdays 12-1! We’ll meet on Chapin steps (or in Paresky depending on weather). Eat lunch with us or just stop by to say hi! Feel free to reach out to Isabel (isa2), Nick (nrh3), or Li (lyp1) with any questions or suggestions.

The WOC Equipment Room will be open by appointment only.  Hours are 12:30-1:30pm (M-Th) and 12-2pm (Fri). The Equipment Room is open to all WOC members.  Please go to this appointment schedule and sign up for a slot.  Use the tabs to find the correct week.

Monday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9pm at the Nate Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House. No experience necessary. All equipment provided. This is for WOC members only and memberships are available at the wall. Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.

 

Tuesday

Wednesday

Non cis-male climbing from 7 -8 pm!  From 8 - 9 all WOC members are welcome and memberships are available at the wall.  No experience necessary.  All equipment provided.   Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.

 

Thursday

 Friday

Trick OR Treat yourself to the Weekly sunrise hike  “wake up” and down Pine Cobble - will be a TRUE sunrise hike witnessing the rise at 7:23 AM. Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM!!  3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!!.   Dress for the weather, good footwear for a trail that will be muddy, wet and always rocky!  Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp or flashlight and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:40AM.  Please sign up on this form  or email [log in to unmask]  with any questions?

 

Hopkins Forest Stroll Meander around the college’s beautiful woods and catch the last colors of the changing leaves in an easygoing hike this Friday. We’ll leave from the Paresky steps at 10 am and be back by 1 pm. The hike is about 6 miles round trip from campus, and the trail will be wet, so bring/check out some good footwear and dress for the weather! Email Maddie Burbage (mgb4) if you have questions about the hike or the gear, and sign up on this form to come!

 

Stone Hill Night Hike—Should be Sp00ky! Are spooky, scary skeletons yet to send shivers down your spine this season? Kick off your Halloweekend with a spooky hike up Stone Hill to Kite Hill. This 4 mile loop will be muddy, wet, and full of ghosts, so be sure to bring proper attire (evil spirits HATE well prepared hikers!!) Additionally, bring your best scary stories to share with the group! Meet at Paresky Steps at 9pm on Friday. Sign up on this form and email Justyn (jmf10) with any questions! Headlamps will be provided.

 

Saturday

Bee Hill Hike!  Join us for a lovely 4 mile loop parallel to a babbling brook! The hike will be muddy and rocky at times, so please bring an extra pair of socks and sturdy hiking shoes. Warm attire will be a must given the cold morning; sign up on this form if you’re interested! Please contact Charlotte (cgj1) with questions or if you would like to borrow gear.

 

Williams Empower Through Health Moo-ve for Mental Health 5K! 

The Williams ETH Moo-ve for Mental Health 5k is Saturday 10/30 outside of Paresky, starting at 9:30 am! Whether you'd like to run, walk, or just hang out with dogs and eat donuts, we have something for you. There will be prizes for the fastest time, best Halloween costume, most entry participation, and a raffle. All proceeds will go towards funding a psychiatric clinic in the Busoga region of Uganda. Sunday

Halloween Chalk Drawing!  Start your Halloween with spooky chalkings in front of Paresky! Come by Resky steps anytime between 10am and 1:30pm. Sidewalk chalk will be provided. Please contact Abby Kinney ([log in to unmask]) with any questions.
