Submit your custom design (just the front, only one color) for this year’s Mountain Day T-Shirt. Please drop them off at the WOC office (second floor Paresky) OR email submissions to Audrey, [log in to unmask] by 11pm on Saturday, September 18th.
JOIN THE SPONTANEOUS OUTINGS CHAT!!!!!!!!
Have you ever felt like the day was so nice that you just had to be outside? Do you want to know if any random or spontaneous adventures are happening in the moment? Or do you want to get the most up to date info about WOC and trips? Join the Spontaneous Outings GroupMe chat here!
The WOC Equipment Room will be open M-Th, F, & by appointment only. Hours will be 12:30-1:30pm (M-Th) and 12-2pm (Fri). The Equipment Room is open to all members of the Williams community. Please go to this appointment schedule and sign up for a slot. Be prepared to show a “CLEARED” status on your CoVerified App when you come for your appointment. Equipment is due back one week later so sign up for that appointment also.
We want your feedback on trips! Have you recently gone on a trip and want to give us feedback on COVID-19 precautions and how things went? Fill out our feedback form after your trip so we know how we’re doing!
Not-so-polar Bear Swim!! Has academic life at Williams completely drained you? Are your eyes vacant and soulless? Try to recapture the feeling of being alive by jumping into a river! This is a perfect bucket list item and a great way to keep awake while finishing that problem set. Meet on Paresky Steps at 8:30pm on Monday night. Be sure to bring a towel, warm layers, and something to swim in! Feel free to email Aidan Lloyd-Tucker (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
GORP Making !!! Make GORP (good ole raisins and peanuts) with us! You may remember this delicious food from WOOLF, camp, or just life. If not, now is the perfect time to try it! Please note, you will be learning to make GORP (and perhaps learn the GORP song as well), so should come prepared for that and not just picking up free food. Also note that this GORP will include nuts: an allergy free GORP making workshop will be held at a later date. We will be meeting at 7pm at Paresky Steps! Email Aidan Lloyd-Tucker (al15) with any questions or concerns.
Apples are in season! Come dehydrate apples with the dehydrator in the WOC Equipment Room on Thursday at 3pm with Isabel and Rachel. Email Rachel ([log in to unmask]) with any questions and sign up on this form to reserve a spot!
Stony Ledge Hike up the Hopper! Come appreciate the early fall views from Stony Ledge on the majestic Mt. Greylock. We will be going up the Hopper trail and down the Hailey Farm Trail for around a 5 mile hike with 1500ft of elevation. We will be meeting at 1:30pm on Paresky Steps and be back at 4:30pm. Since a van is required, we have limited capacity so please sign up on this form. Email Aidan Lloyd-Tucker (al15) with any questions, concerns, or any equipment needed ahead of time.
Weekly sunrise hike “wake up” and down Pine Cobble - sunrise at 6:35 AM. Meet on Paresky steps at 6 AM!! 3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!!. Dress for the weather, good footwear for a trail that will be muddy, wet and always rocky! Bring a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:30AM. Please sign up on this form or email [log in to unmask] with any questions?
Fire at Poker Flats!! Are you looking for a chill way to spend part of your Friday night? Do you really enjoy fire? Well then, come hang out at the little campfire behind the tennis courts on Poker Flats from 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm on Friday night! There will be fire and vibes, feel free to bring an instrument if you are so inclined or just bring yourself! Email [log in to unmask] if you have any questions.
WOC 101: Beginner Oriented Hike to Kite Hill
Enjoy a beautiful and beginner oriented hike to Kite Hill to catch some stunning mountain views in a meadow! We will be using the stunning Stone Hill trail system behind the Clark Museum. This is about 4.5 miles total and has a very gradual elevation gain of about 500 feet. While we encourage beginners, this is open to anyone who wants to get outside this Saturday morning!! Meet at Paresky steps at 9 AM and return to campus at ~11:30 AM. Sign up here, and bring a water bottle and shoes you like to hike in. Any questions or need equipment? Email Georgia at [log in to unmask]!
Beginner Climbing Night!
Want to learn to rock climb? Come by the wall between 7-9pm to learn from our instructor-monitors and hang out with friends! Email Isabel ([log in to unmask]) with any questions and sign up on this form to reserve a spot for either 7-8pm or 8-9pm!
Morning (ish) hike up Buxton Ravine
Have you ever looked down route 2 and thought: hey, I wonder where that road ends up going? Well, Buxton Ravine is one possible answer! Meet at Paresky Steps at 9am on Sunday for a roughly 2.5 hour long, possibly muddy, moderate hike with an elevation gain of a bit over 1000 ft. and a small river crossing. Email Justyn ([log in to unmask]) with any questions and sign up on this form!
