Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we
have going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College
community.


Announcements

Mountain Day T-Shirt Design Contest!!!!!!!!!!! Whether you’re seeking
eternal fame and glory, or you just love the mountains, here’s your chance
to shine! Submit your custom design (just the front, only one color) for
this year’s Mountain Day T-Shirt. Please drop them off at the WOC office
(second floor Paresky) OR email submissions to Audrey, [log in to unmask] by
11pm on Saturday, September 18th.

The WOC Equipment Room will be open M-Th, F, & by appointment only.  Hours
will be 12:30-1:30pm (M-Th) and 12-2pm (Fri). The Equipment Room is open to
all members of the Williams community.  Please go to this appointment
schedule and sign up for a slot.  Be prepared to show a “CLEARED” status on
your CoVerified App when you come for your appointment.  Equipment is due
back one week later so sign up for that appointment also.

Monday

Not-so-polar Bear Swim!! Has academic life at Williams completely drained
you? Are your eyes vacant and soulless? Try to recapture the feeling of
being alive by jumping into a river! This is a perfect bucket list item and
a great way to keep awake while finishing that problem set. Meet on Paresky
Steps at 8:30pm on Monday night. Be sure to bring a towel, warm layers, and
something to swim in!

Wednesday

GORP Making !!! Make GORP (good ole raisins and peanuts) with us! You may
remember this delicious food from WOOLF, camp, or just life. If not, now is
the perfect time to try it! Please note, you will be learning to make GORP
(and perhaps learn the GORP song as well), so should come prepared for that
and not just picking up free food. Also note that this GORP will include
nuts: an allergy free GORP making workshop will be held at a later date. We
will be meeting at 7pm at Paresky Steps! Email Aidan Lloyd-Tucker (al15

Thursday

Apple Dehydrating!

Apples are in season! Come dehydrate apples with the dehydrator in the WOC
Equipment Room on Thursday at 3pm with Isabel and Rachel. Email Rachel (

Stony Ledge Hike up the Hopper! Come appreciate the early fall views from
Stony Ledge on the majestic Mt. Greylock. We will be going up the Hopper
trail and down the Hailey Farm Trail for around a 5 mile hike with 1500ft
of elevation. We will be meeting at 1:30pm on Paresky Steps and be back at
4:30pm. Since a van is required, we have limited capacity so please sign up

Friday

Weekly sunrise hike  “wake up” and down Pine Cobble - sunrise at 6:35 AM. Meet
on Paresky steps at 6 AM!!  3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot
elevation gain to get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through
your veins!!.   Dress for the weather, good footwear for a trail that will
be muddy, wet and always rocky!  Bring a filled water bottle and a cup for
hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:30AM.  Please sign up on this form

Fire at Poker Flats!! Are you looking for a chill way to spend part of your
Friday night? Do you really enjoy fire? Well then, come hang out at the
little campfire behind the tennis courts on Poker Flats from 8:30 pm -
10:00 pm on Friday night! There will be fire and vibes, feel free to bring
an instrument if you are so inclined or just bring yourself! Email

Saturday

WOC 101: Beginner Oriented Hike to Kite Hill

Enjoy a beautiful and beginner oriented hike to Kite Hill to catch some
stunning mountain views in a meadow! We will be using the stunning Stone
Hill trail system behind the Clark Museum. This is about 4.5 miles total
and has a very gradual elevation gain of about 500 feet. While we encourage
beginners, this is open to anyone who wants to get outside this Saturday
morning!! Meet at Paresky steps at 9 AM and return to campus at ~11:30 AM.

Sunday

Morning (ish) hike up Buxton Ravine

Have you ever looked down route 2 and thought: hey, I wonder where that
road ends up going? Well, Buxton Ravine is one possible answer! Meet at Paresky
Steps at 9am on Sunday for a roughly 2.5 hour long, possibly muddy,
moderate hike with an elevation gain of a bit over 1000 ft. and a small
