Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we have going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College community.

Announcements

THE NATE LOWE CLIMBING WALL IS RE-OPENING!!

Beginning Monday 11/9 the climbing wall will be re-opening from 6 - 8 pm M - W.  Monday night will include roped climbing while Tuesday and Wednesday will be limited to bouldering only.  Sessions will start at 6 pm and you should show up at that time.  Following the MA Governor's guidelines the session will be limited to 8 climbers.  Please sign up here for one evening session only.  This is a very new process and it may change as we work out the kinks.  There will be a waiting list and we hope to accommodate everyone who would like to climb while filling all 8 slots every night.  There are still a few open slots.  Huge thanks to the members of the Athletic Dept, Operations Committee and Senior Staff who made this possible

Weekly Anti-Racism in the Outdoors Resource

This week’s resource highlights the experiences of Dr. Carolyn Finney, a professor of geography, in the great outdoors, as well as her observations about representation in media and hope that “that there are those who will wonder why their presence in this story is not apparent; who will take this opportunity to talk about it with others; and who will not be stopped from going to experience the great outdoors wherever they live.” Dr. Finney’s conclusions are part of the motivation for this new weekly resource project.

Week of 11/8 Resource: “It Matters Who You See In Outdoor Media” By: Dr. Carolyn Finney, Outside Online

Please reach out to isa2 with any comments/questions/thoughts. We will also be holding a Zoom chat to talk about the resource, anti-racism in the outdoors, and anything on your mind this Wednesday 11/11 from 5- 5:30 PM! Come join some of our board members to chat: https://williams.zoom.us/j/93568915127?pwd=QnU5MHhPUmZQV0ttNUZtN3Y3cHkyUT09
