Register to vote (too important for exclamation points) The Williams College Athletic Dept., which WOC is a part of, is participating in the NESCAC All-In Voter Challenge.  Some of the Williams Athletic teams have already achieved 100% voter registration.  Wouldn’t it be amazing if everyone on this listserve registered and voted?  Please go to the link above and register to vote (takes 2 minutes) if you have not already done so.  You can take the pledge to vote at the same time.  If you are already registered at home and plan to vote absentee, thank you.  

 

Volunteer with Hopkins Forest with Lehman Community Engagement!

Saturdays October 10, 17, and 24th, 8am-12pm

Help out with trail maintenance, weeding, planting, and more with Williams' own nature preserve! Sign up here, and feel free to reach out to Allison Li (awl4) with any questions!

 

 

The WOC Equipment Room will be open Monday – Friday from 12 pm -2 pm by appointment only.  Open to all members of the Williams community.  WOC memberships are not required at the present time due to restricted amounts of equipment available.  As restrictions are eased on what equipment may be borrowed, this policy may change.  WE WILL BE OPEN DURING READING PERIOD

You need to email [log in to unmask]  prior to 6 pm on the day before you would like to borrow the gear in order to reserve equipment, an equipment room manager will respond with details and an appointment time.   Loan period will be 1 week.  Please see attached PDF of equipment available for loan.

We want your feedback on trips! Have you recently gone on a trip and want to give us feedback on COVID-19 precautions and how things went? Fill out our feedback form after your trip so we know how we’re doing! We want to make our trips are safe, fun, and inclusive.

ALL WOC TRIPS ARE BY RESERVATION ONLY. YOU MUST EMAIL THE TRIP LEADER IN ORDER TO GO.

Friday

Weekly sunrise hike “wake up” and down Pine Cobble - witness sunrise at 6:59AM. Meet on Paresky steps at 5:30 AM.  Dress for the weather ( bring extra layers) footwear for a trail that can be wet, muddy and always rocky! Headlamps are highly recommended (I’ll have extras if needed!) bring a filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 9:00AM.   Please Contact Scott, [log in to unmask] to reserve a spot! Hike to Hopkins Forest! We’ll be making a four-ish mile loop from campus, and maybe even do some forest bathing. We’ll meet at Paresky Steps at 3:45 and be back by 5:15-ish. (People often drop, so please don’t be shy about utilizing the Waiting List)

 

Sunday

Epic Adventure Day Hike! Trust us, it is going to be epic. Join Duncan and Lyza for a hike to Mt. Berlin, a long traverse across the Taconic Crest Trail, a descent down Phelps, finishing with a meander down Scott Hill Road toward the Clark, venturing ~20 miles (ish) with a fair amount of elevation gain (for the views! the foliage! the views of the foliage!). We’ll leave campus at 8:00am, we’ll be back for dinner. Email [log in to unmask] for a spot, and/or with any questions. (capacity 8)

Tie-Dye! - Want to purplefy a shirt for Williams pride? Looking to bring more color into your life? Bring a white or light colored clothing item to tie-dye!! Meet on Paresky steps Monday at 1 PM. Signup with this link! Email [log in to unmask] with any question or concerns! (Capacity is 7)


Reading Period Paddle! Join us for a canoeing adventure on the Hoosic River!  We will meet on Paresky steps at 1pm and should be back to campus by 4. Tuesday

Reading Period Hike to the Taconic Crest Trail! We’ll head through Hopkins Forest to get to the Taconic Crest Trail, and then we’ll return to campus via the Sara Tenney Trail. The hike is about 14 miles without too much elevation gain; hopefully it will be a nice opportunity to enjoy the fall leaves! We will leave campus at 8:30 am and return in the early afternoon.
