WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR 10/28- 11/04

Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoors events we
have going on this week.   All events are open to WOC members. For more
information on how to join WOC, ask your trip leader or head on down to the
equipment room.

Announcements:



INFO SESSION with Apogee Adventures is looking for current students and
recent graduates (age 20 or older by June 2020) to lead outdoor
experiential education programs for students 11-18 in New England, Canada,
Colorado, Montana, California, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and throughout
Europe this summer. If you're enthusiastic, responsible, and love working
with kids, come learn more! No outdoor experience necessary.

Our 30-minute Information Session will be held on Tuesday, October 29that
7:00 PM in the Lewis Conference Room located in Mears House. We'll also be
conducting interviews the following day. If you are unable to make our info

Apply to be a WOOLF 2020 Student Director! Sophomores and juniors with
previously involvement with WOOLF are eligible to apply. Application

Lead Clinic: Ever wanted to get on the crazy overhang at the wall or get
out trad climbing?  Well the first step is learning to lead climb! There
will be a 2 part lead climbing clinic from 8 -10 pm on Tuesday 10/29 and
Tuesday 11/5.  You must be lead certified to lead climb at the wall and
must attend both days to get certified. Email Dave ([log in to unmask]) with
questions or to sign up.



GRAND CANYON spring break trip!  Do you love to hike? Do you want to do
trail work in one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever visit? Join
Scott and Negasi this spring break in the GRAND CANYON for a two-week
(3/21-4/04) Arizona adventure! Enjoy awesome hikes, make friends, and sleep
at the bottom of one of America’s greatest treasures. Contact Negasi,

The Nate Lowe climbing wall:  Come get sendy with us!  The wall is open
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8pm - 10pm (Thursdays from 8-9pm
reserved for people who don’t identify as cis-gender male.  All climbers
are welcome from 9-10). Closed Tuesday due to lead clinic.


Wall closed next two TUESDAYS: Due to lead clinic mentioned above. The wall
will not be open on Tuesday 10/29 and Tuesday 11/5.



WOC Equipment Room:   The Equipment Room will be open M - Th 12:30 - 1:30

WOC activities:



Thursday: Lovely Hike to Cascade Falls! Join us for a short hike to Cascade
Falls to see a beautiful waterfall. The total hike is 2 miles on flat
ground along a beautiful stream. We will leave from the WOC Office at 3 pm
and return to campus by 5:30. Please email [log in to unmask] if you are
interested!



Friday:

Last chance for a real sunrise this semester before Daylight savings time
sets the clock back 1 hr!  Hike Pine Cobble (witness sunrise at 7:26am) Meet
on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM.  Dress for the weather,  Bring a headlamp,
filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:30AM.

Evening Stroll: End your week on a high note by taking an evening stroll up
Stone Hill. Meet at Paresky steps at 8pm. It might be chilly - so dress for
the weather! Bring headlamps if you so choose. We’ll enjoy some hot cocoa
while looking at the stars before heading back to campus. Email Alex at

Saturday:

Tri-everything - Canoeing, meditating and hiking in South Berkshire
County.  Leaving campus at 10:30AM and returning by 5:00pm.  Canoeing on
Stockbridge Bowl, walking the Labyrinth of Kripalu and hiking to the top of
Lenox mountain at the Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary!   Rejuvenating 5

WOC Din!! Join us in Dodd Kitchen at 4:30 to cook, or at 6 to eat, a
delicious vegetarian soup! WOC Din is designed to provide an opportunity
for students to meet community members outside of their usual friend
groups, and to prompt discussions about the outdoors at Williams. Email
