WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR 02/04- 02/10 Hello WOC family! Come check out some of the awesome outdoors events we have going on this week. All events are open to WOC members. For more information on how to join WOC, ask your trip leader or head on down to the equipment room. Announcements: Winter Carnival 2019, THE GREAT BARRIER EPH, is on its way! Check out WOC's table in Paresky during lunch hours Wednesday 2/6 to Friday 2/9 to sign up for Winter Carnival events. Come with questions and stoke, leave with a Great Barrier Eph sticker! Sign ups will be for: -Mount Prospect Winter Fest, Friday 2/15. Sledding, snowshoeing, and nordic skiing. We’ll have a big “grill” cooking...don’t miss the fun! -Learn to Ski at Berkshire East (reduced pricing on passes and rental) Saturday 2/16. All experience levels welcome. Come for skiing or tubing! -AND.. We’ll be selling Mt. Day 2018 shirts for $5 all proceeds go to providing financial aid for undergraduate students who want to participate in our Learn to Ski/Snowboard programing WOC Equipment Room: The Equipment Room is open T-Th 12:30 -1:30 and 12 -2 on Friday. We have tons of gear to borrow! WOC memberships may be purchased as may Mt. Day or Bamboo T-shirts. Email [log in to unmask] WOC activities: Thursday: Pool Rolling Session 7:30 - 9:00 Come by the indoor pool to learn the basics of kayaking! Learn the basics of kayaking including forward paddle strokes, turning a kayak with and without a paddle, and rolling a full 360 degrees. Open to people of any or no experience. Contact Duncan, [log in to unmask] if you have questions! Friday: Weekly Sunrise Hike (catch the sunrise at 6:59am) - to the summit of Pine Cobble, Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM. Dress for the weather, trail will be snowy, icy and possibly wet! Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp/flashlight and a cup for hot drinks. Return to campus by 8:30AM. Contact Scott, [log in to unmask] if you have questions?? Saturday: Morning Snowshoe in Savoy State Forest 9:00am - 12:00pm Sign up to snowshoe in Savoy State Forest this Saturday! We will be taking a short hike through a picturesque “winter wonderland”. This trip will be great for people with all levels of snowshoeing experience. Please contact Charlotte ([log in to unmask]) to reserve a spot or with any questions! Sunday: Morning Hike up Mt. Berlin: Come hike up nearby Mt. Berlin via the Class of ‘33 Trail, a great intermediate difficulty hike of around 5 miles round trip. Dress for the weather, and bring a full water bottle. Meet on the front steps of Paresky at 9 AM, back in early-mid afternoon. Microspikes (for better traction) will be provided. Contact Jonathan at jrh5 with any questions.
