WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR 01/14 - 01/20

Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoors events we
have going on this week.   All events are open to WOC members. For more
information on how to join WOC, ask your trip leader or head on down to the
equipment room.

Announcements:

BUS shuttle to Jiminy Peak ski area every weekday: Meet on Mission Park Dr.
behind Chapin Hall 12:55pm, bus leaves promptly at 1pm and returns to
campus approximately 5pm. Bring your WOC member card or Jiminy peak J-term
pass to board bus!



WOC Equipment Room:  The Equipment Room is open M-F 12-2.  We have tons of
gear to borrow! WOC memberships may be purchased as may Mt. Day or Bamboo

Dead Week Trip: Adirondack winter sampler - Come stay in the gorgeous
Adirondacks during dead week (1/27-1/29) and enjoy the winter woods while
staying in a cozy (heated) cabin at night. Day activities may include
snowshoeing, sledding, snow fort building and nordic skiing. We will have a
beginner day trip as well as a more advanced option and encourage people of
all levels of winter outdoor experience to come along! Email Louisa (lbg2)

Wednesday:

Polar Bear Plunge

Join us for a crisp, refreshing, and frigid dip in the Green River on
Wednesday night! We will meet at 8pm in front of WCMA to walk down to the
river together. Bring lots of layers, something to swim in, and a towel to

Thursday:

Pool Rolling Session 7:30 - 8-30

Come by the indoor pool to learn the basics of kayaking! Learn the basics
of kayaking including forward paddle strokes, turning a kayak with and
without a paddle, and rolling a full 360 degrees. Open to people of any or

Friday:

Weekly Sunrise Hike (catch the sunrise at 7:18 am) - to the summit of Pine
Cobble.  Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM.  Dress for the weather, trail
will be icy, snowy, muddy and wet!  Bring a water bottle,
headlamp/flashlight and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:30AM.

WOC Cabin Overnight  (Friday 5pm - Saturday 10am)

Take advantage of the lovely WOC cabin in Hopkins Forest for a quick
overnight! We will head off on Friday afternoon, have backcountry inspired
meal, enjoy a night hike through Hopkins forest, and enjoy the warmth of
the wood stove! We’ll plan to be back to campus by 10am the next morning.

Sunday:

Winter Waterfall Hike 9:00am - 12:00pm:

Come along for a stroll at the base of Mt. Greylock, following a small
stream that leads to the 40+ foot Cascade falls! The hike will be 2 miles
of steady, flat hiking, with some beautiful trees, rocks, and ice. Contact
