WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR 04/26- 04/29


Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoors events we have going on this week. All events are open to WOC members. For more information on how to join WOC, ask your trip leader or head on down to the equipment room


Announcements:

Outdoor Recreation Project Intern, North Adams Partnership Application deadline is on Sunday, April 29th  Please go to this link: https://williams.joinhandshake.com/jobs/1328951 - see attached PDF for details!


Climbing: The Nate Lowe climbing wall will be open 8 -10 pm T - Th.  The wall will not be open Monday 4/23 due to Purple Key Fair.  8-9 pm on Thursdays are reserved for people who do not identify as cis-gender males.  9-10 pm on Thursdays and every other night is open and welcome to all.

WOC Equipment Room:  The Equipment Room will be open M - Th 12:30 -1:30, and F 12 -2.   WOC memberships may be purchased at the Equipment Room as may the ever popular WOC Bamboo T-shirt. Email [log in to unmask] with questions.


Thursday:

Polar Bear Swim: Come one come all to the green river for a quick swim! Meet at the WCMA steps at 8:30 if interested. Bring a towel.  Contact Kerry at kas6 if you have any questions!


Friday:

Sunrise (6:02 am sunrise)  3 mi Hike up and down Pine Cobble  Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00 AM.  Dress for the weather -.  Bring a water bottle and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:30AM. Contact Scott, [log in to unmask] if you have questions!


Saturday:

Spring Bird Walk in Hopkins Forest!

Join us for a leisurely stroll to find early spring migrant and resident birds --  including bluebirds, hermit thrushes, sapsuckers and perhaps even the elusive Louisiana waterthrush -- in Hopkins Forest.  Wear shoes or boots appropriate for damp conditions. Meet at the Rosenburg Center 7:30AM Coffee and binoculars available. Contact Drew Jones, [log in to unmask] for more info.

Easy! Fun! Run for running beginners: Do you consider yourself not a ‘runner’ but wish you ran more? Do you want to know learn some of the local running routes and trails around campus? Join us at 2pm on in front of Lassel Gym (across from Morgan), to go on a very easy beginner run-- we will stay together as a group and run at a pace everyone can hold.  This is a non-intimidating run for beginner runners! Email Kerry at Kas6 with questions!


Yogascapes Landscapes Botany Scapes! : Join us on Stone Hill for an afternoon of hatha yoga, pranayama and botanical art! We will be leaving from the Paresky entrance on Park st. at 12 and returning by 2. Come explore the budding of spring ephemerals and catalogue local plant species. In the recent rain, the perennial plants that emerge quickly in the spring and die back to their underground parts after a short growth and reproduction phase are just now emerging from the snow. We will return next week to see how these floral species have grown! Sketchbooks, colored pencils, and yoga mats will be provided.   Contact Crystal, cm27 if you are interested and would like to borrow a mat!

Sunday:

Lunar Hike! : Come ramble up Pine Cobble under the full moon this Sunday! Hike about three miles roundtrip; headlamps (and maybe some snacks?) provided! Wear a warm layer.  Leaving around 10:30 PM from Paresky steps. Contact Jonathan ([log in to unmask] ) with any questions, like if you want to try but would like to borrow a pair of hiking boots.
