Hello WOC,

We're still accepting applications for the 2011-12 WOC Board, the Quay Fellowship, and WOC's instructor training course scholarship. All Outing Club members are encouraged to apply for these opportunities (read more about each below). Completed applications are due in the specially-marked envelopes outside the WOC office in Paresky by 4 PM this Friday.

If you haven't picked up an application, a digital version of each is attached. Please direct questions to Mike (mbg1) or Abby (atm1).

WOC Board
The WOC Board serves as Williams’ main conduit to the outdoors, co-coordinating Mountain Day, Winter Carnival and WOOLF, as well as leading various trips canoeing, hiking, kayaking, fly-fishing, climbing, sledding, skiing, snowboarding, backpacking and many other adventures. Applicants to the Board should possess significant experience in the outdoors, the time necessary to make a significant contribution to the Club, and for overnight trips possess (or be committed to training towards) the WOC Mountain Guide certification.

Robert Ikemori Quay '04 Outing Club Memorial Fellowship
This summer fellowship, established by friends and family of Bob Quay '04, is to be awarded to an underclassman or senior committed to combining a sense of community service with enhancing accessibility to the local wilderness trails of Berkshire County. The stipend will support one student's summer work as crew leader for trail projects identified by the Williams Outing Club.

Instructor Course Scholarship
WOC will be offering a scholarship towards an individual’s instructor certification, in return for that individual's commitment to teaching other students in WOC P.E. classes and other events. Previous courses have included Whitewater Kayaking Instructor training through the American Canoe Association and Climbing Instructor Programs through the AMGA.
