WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR

January 10 - January 16, 2022

Hello WOC family! Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we have
going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College community.


Announcements:
*SKI AND SNOWBOARD BUS - CANCELLED FOR TUESDAY - DUE TO DANGEROUS WINTER
TEMPERATURES single digits plus added windchill. *

Sign up for Dead Week Trip: Adirondack Winter Sampler! Come stay in the
gorgeous Adirondacks during dead week (1/30-2/1) and enjoy the winter woods
while staying in a cozy (heated) cabin at night. Day activities may include
snowshoeing, sledding, snow fort building and nordic skiing. We will have
beginner and advanced activities and encourage people of all levels of
winter outdoor experience to come along! Price will be around $15 and
financial aid is available. Email [log in to unmask] by Saturday, 1/15 if
you are interested or have questions!

The WOC Equipment Room will be open by APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Hours are 11 am -
2 pm (M-F). The Equipment Room is open to all WOC members.  Please go to

Tuesday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.  This is for WOC members only and memberships are
available at the wall.  Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Wednesday

Non cis-male climbing from 8 - 9 pm!  From 9 - 10 all WOC members are
welcome and memberships are available at the wall.  No experience
necessary.  All equipment provided.   Please enter through the doors on the
south (Weston Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the
door.



Buxton Ravine Hike (+ some forest bathing..?) This 6 mile, steep hike with
roughly 1000 feet of elevation gain is sure to be beautiful this time of
year! Prepare for COLD weather (jacket, gloves, warm socks, hiking boots,
lots of layers) and a good workout. We will likely need microspikes as
well, but we can grab those before leaving. Meet at Paresky Steps at 11AM.

Thursday

Hot Chocolate Morning Start your Thursday off right and make some hot
chocolate at 9AM on Thursday,! We will have hot chocolate ingredients,
marshmallows, and whipped cream. Please bring a cup (or two) of your milk
of choice from Paresky :) Meet on Paresky steps to make some warm
chocolatey goodness on the camping stoves. Sign-ups

Short Film Night 7:00 - 9:00 Join us in Dodd Living Room for a mini film
festival focusing on diversity and representation in the outdoors! We’ll
watch a collection of short films

Friday

Weekly sunrise hike - it’s another real one!!!!  This“wake up” and down
Pine Cobble - it’s a REAL sunrise at 7:20 AM. Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00
AM!!  This is a 3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to
get your blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!!.
Dress for the weather -  winter hat/gloves needed for warmth at the summit,
good footwear for a trail that will be SNOWY, muddy, wet and always rocky!
Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp - most definitely or flashlight and a
cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:30AM.  Please sign up on this

Saturday:

Taconic Crest Hike! Please be prepared for cold, wet, and icy conditions on
this beautiful ~6 hike. We will probably be wearing microspikes or
snow-shoes. An extra pair of socks, hiking boots, a water bottle, a hat,
and a snack are required to attend (all minus the snack may be borrowed
from the WOC Equipment Room). We’ll leave at around 9AM from the Paresky
steps and return to campus before 1.  Please email cgj1 with questions or

Cross country skiing at Prospect Mountain, Vermont - van shuttle!!  This is
for EXPERIENCED cross country skiers only- NO LESSON given - IF conditions
warrant - and prospect is OPEN cost is $10/for trail pass.. we’ll run one
van, leaving campus at 9:00AM and returning by 1pm.  If you need to borrow
cross country ski gear - Please make an appointment on Friday, Jan. 14 to
get gear.. space is limited in the van. Please sign up on this form

Sunday:

Prospect Mountain hike UP the AT and down total of 4 miles for a beautiful
view of the west from the lookout.. can almost see California.. almost…Meet
