WOC-end UPDATE

Hello WOC family! Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we have
going on this weekend. All events are open to the Williams College
community.


Announcements

JOIN WOC BOARD!!

Excited about getting the campus community outside? Interested in leading
trips, running community programming, and planning events like Mountain Day
and Winter Carnival? Are you a first-year, sophomore or junior? Did you
really like playing with dirt as a child? then WOC Board might be the place
for you! Please feel more than welcome to apply — no prior experience in
the outdoors is necessary! Applications are due by February 15th at 11:59 pm
and include a short peer recommendation. We will be scheduling (short)
interviews with all applicants between February 19-25th. Apply here

Jiminy Peak buses during Dead Week!  There will be a bus to Jiminy Peak
leaving from behind Chapin at 1 pm and returning at 4:30 pm on 1/27, 30 &
31.

Would you like to become an Instructor Monitor at the Nate Lowe Climbing
Wall?  There will be a 2 session training for anyone interested on February
7 & 9 from 6:30 -8 PM.  You must be belay certified at the Nate Lowe
Climbing Wall to participate.  The 2 session training will be brief but
mandatory.  In addition to the training sessions, all new IMs are required
to work with an experienced IM team for two sessions and pass a practical
examination before being hired and co-leading their own session. If you

The WOC Equipment Room will be open M – F 11:30 am–2 pm through 1/27.  Spring
semester hours of M- Th 12:30 -1:30 & F 12 -2 will begin on 1/30.

Monday:

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 8 - 10 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.


Tuesday:

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 9 -11 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.


*EPIC(ish) Sunrise Hike* Join us for a snowshoe/hike on the Hoosac Range
Trail to watch the sun rise over the Cold River National Natural Landmark.
We will meet at the WOC Equipment Room at 5:10 am to get snowshoes or
Microspikes and get out on the trail. This moderate hike is 4.2 miles with
a vertical gain of 800 feet. Depending on group inclination we may continue
on to Spruce Hill for a total distance of 5.6 miles and a vertical gain of
900 feet. Winter boots, gloves, hat, spare warm clothes, and a water bottle
are required, as well as a pack to carry it all in. Return to Paresky by
9:30. Come to the Equipment Room on Monday between 12:30 and 1:30 to get
outfitted. Sign up on this form
