WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR

October 18- October 24, 2021

Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we
have going on this week.  All events are open to the Williams College
community.


Announcements

Linear Park Trail Day: Tuesday, October 19, 2021  10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Water Street:  HooRWA is finishing the new Linear Park Trail and we need
your help to cross the finish line.Bring your gloves and be prepared for
some hard trail work and lots of it.  See the great work done by the
Student Conservation Association on a project funded by MassTrails. Meet at

Sign up for the Winter study LEAD 18 - SOLO First Responder Wilderness
Emergency care course.  This is a continuous 9 day, 72 hour comprehensive
hands on in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with
wilderness based medical emergencies. The course runs 9 consecutive days
straight from 9AM–5PM. The instructor will be provided by SOLO (Stonehearth
Open Learning Opportunities). Cost is $450. If interested please submit a
statement of purpose by Oct. 29 to [log in to unmask], explaining why you
want to take the course and hope to gain from the experience.

Had a good reading period? How about a great spring break with WOC!!  Just
“booking” ahead - WOC Grand Canyon spring break trail crew service trip,
March 19 - April 2, 2022.  Interested in a trip of a lifetime?  14 days in
Arizona - 7 of them at the bottom of the Grand Canyon!!  Interested?

JEDI weekly lunch! Join us to talk about anti-racism and responding to
accessibility issues in the outdoors on Tuesdays 12-1! We’ll meet on Chapin
steps (or in Paresky depending on weather). Eat lunch with us or just stop
by to say hi! Feel free to reach out to Isabel (isa2), Nick (nrh3), or Li
(lyp1) with any questions or suggestions.

The WOC Equipment Room will be open by appointment only.  Hours are
12:30-1:30pm (M-Th) and 12-2pm (Fri). The Equipment Room is open to all WOC

Monday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House. No experience necessary. All
equipment provided. This is for WOC members only and memberships are
available at the wall. Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Tuesday

Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.  This is for WOC members only and memberships are
available at the wall.  Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Wednesday

Non cis-male climbing from 7 -8 pm!  From 8 - 9 all WOC members are welcome
and memberships are available at the wall.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.   Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Thursday

Lead climbing clinic! Ever wanted to learn how to lead climb? We’ll be
hosting a lead climbing clinic the next two Thursdays (10/21 and 10/28)
from 5-7pm. Sign-up here

if you’re belay certified, climb at least 5.9, and want to learn how to
lead (or want to get lead certified at the wall)! Space is limited so we
will send you an email if you get a spot. Feel free to reach out to Isabel

Northwest Hill Road Bike Ride! Join us for a bike ride up to Hopkins Forest
and Northwest Hill Road! This will be the perfect chance to see
Williamstown at peak foliage. The loop is about 6 miles and roughly 45
minutes of riding- we’ll plan on leaving campus at 4 and returning by 5!
Please bring a helmet and water- WOC has about 6 bikes available for anyone
who might need one. Sign up with the weekly signup sheet and email
[log in to unmask] with any questions!



Friday

Weekly sunrise hike  “wake up” and down Pine Cobble - Should be a TRUE
sunrise hike witnessing the rise at 7:14 AM. Meet on Paresky steps at 6:00
AM!!  3 mile hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to get your
blood flowing and endorphins coursing through your veins!!.   Dress for the
weather, good footwear for a trail that will be muddy, wet and always
rocky!  Bring a filled water bottle, headlamp or flashlight and a cup for
hot drinks.  Return to campus by 8:40AM.  Please sign up on this form
