WOC-ly OUTING CLUB CALENDAR

September 27 - October 3, 2021

Hello WOC family!  Come check out some of the awesome outdoor events we
have going on this week. All events are open to the Williams College
community.


Announcements

MOUNTAIN DAY ??? ONLY IF PRESIDENT MAUD RINGS THE BELLS !!!

MOUNTAIN DAY SHIRTS FOR SALE !!!

Buy your very own Mountain Day 2021 shirt starting Tuesday this week! Come
to Paresky 11:30-1:30 Tues-Fri this week and Mon-Fri next week. We will be
selling them every week until Mountain Day happens. Bring $10 cash or Venmo
and get excited !!!

Mountain Day Accessibility

If you are interested in participating in Mountain Day events on Stone Hill
or Stony Ledge and have a documented accessibility need, please email the
Office of Accessible Education ([log in to unmask]). Mountain
Day is about so much more than activities on Stone Hill or Stony Ledge, but
if you would like to participate and have an accessibility-related need,
please reach out to the Office as soon as possible. Spaces limited,
especially on Stony Ledge, and cannot be guaranteed if you do not sign up
before Mountain Day, so sign up now!


Additionally, if you would like to walk up Stony Ledge but would like to
leave a little earlier to hike at a more leisurely pace, sign up to come on
an early bus! We will be meeting at 11:45.  Email Li ([log in to unmask]) to
sign up or with any questions!


Reading period Canoe/hike Trip to the Adirondacks:  Join WOC for a
two-night - 3 day canoeing trip plus hike up Mt. Ampersand in the beautiful
Saranac Lake region of the Adirondacks.  Leaving 7:30AM Sunday, Oct. 10
returning 5PM Tuesday, Oct. 12. This will be a relaxing adventure being
surrounded by the colors of Fall!   We will have a mandatory gear shakedown
this sunday, 10/03 at 5pm;  Trip cost ~$20 for food and financial aid is
available. Email Audrey, [log in to unmask] to reserve a spot - space is
limited!

JEDI weekly lunch! Join us to talk about anti-racism and responding to
accessibility issues in the outdoors on Tuesdays 12-1! We’ll meet on Chapin
steps (or in Paresky depending on weather). Eat lunch with us or just stop
by to say hi! Feel free to reach out to Isabel (isa2), Nick (nrh3), or Li
(lyp1) with any questions or suggestions.



The WOC Equipment Room will be open by appointment only.  Hours are
12:30-1:30pm (M-Th) and 12-2pm (Fri). The Equipment Room is open to all WOC

Monday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House. No experience necessary. All
equipment provided. This is for WOC members only and memberships are
available at the wall. Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Tuesday



Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.  This is for WOC members only and memberships are
available at the wall.  Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastlic tarp at the door.

Stone Hill Stroll! (1:00 pm - 2:30 pm) Come walk with us to the top of
Stone Hill to take in the beautiful midday views. We will leave from the
Paresky steps at 1 pm and return between 2 and 2:30. Contact Audrey (
[log in to unmask]) with any questions! Woohoo.



Wednesday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9 pm at the Nate
Lowe Climbing Wall in the Towne Field House.  No experience necessary.  All
equipment provided.  The hour from 7 - 8 is only for non-cis male WOC
members.  From 8 - 9 all WOC  members are welcome and memberships are
available at the wall.  Please enter through the doors on the south (Weston
Field) side and leave your shoes on the plastic tarp at the door.



Thursday

Climbing Wall open!  There will be open climbing from 7 - 9 pm at the Nate

Stone Hill Sunset! (6:15-7:30 pm) Come for a POSSIBLE pre mountain day
stroll up stone hill and to watch the sunset over the berkshires!  sign up

Friday

IF not Mountain Day: NOTE CHANGE OF MEETING TIME…..Weekly sunrise hike
“wake up” and down Pine Cobble - Meet on Paresky steps at 7:05 AM!!  3 mile
hike round trip, one thousand foot elevation gain to get your blood flowing
and endorphins coursing through your veins!!.   Dress for the weather, good
footwear for a trail that will be muddy, wet and always rocky!  Bring a
filled water bottle and a cup for hot drinks.  Return to campus by 9:30AM.

Stargazing on Stone Hill (8:00pm-9:00pm ish)! Meet at Paresky steps at
8:00pm for a short walk to Stone Hill for some stargazing! Stay as long or
as little as you like. Bring a blanket, snacks, and a hot drink (hot cocoa
packets in the dining halls!). Please sign up on this form

Saturday

Rock Climbing at Rose Ledge! Join us for an outdoor top roping trip to Rose
Ledge. We’ll depart at 9am from Paresky and return by 4pm. We’ll drive to
Rose Ledge, have a short but steep approach hike, and then spend a couple
hours climbing! The trip is suitable for all ability levels but top rope
belay certification at the climbing wall is required prior to coming on the
trip. Wear comfortable clothes and bring lunch food and a water bottle for
the day. Climbing gear will be provided as needed. Contact Isabel (isa2),
Nick (nrh3), and/or Dave (da1) with any questions and sign up on this form

Sunday

Meadow Hike! Is a meadow better than a mountain peak? Is grass a better
cushion than a stony summit? Come ponder these questions on a six mile loop
leaving right from Paresky at 10:15 AM! This hike features a moderate
incline along the Buxton Ravine and opens into a beautiful view of Greylock
and the Taconics - a perfect way to get your bearings in the Williamstown
fall. We’ll return around 1 PM. Email Gavin, unix gjm3, with questions, and use
