OUTING CLUB EVENTS 9/17 – 9/23

ANNOUNCEMENTS
-The Equipment Room is open 12:30-1:30 PM on Monday-Thursday, and 12-2 PM on Friday. Visit us in Paresky basement to check out gear with your WOC membership card.  If you are not yet a member, you can purchase a membership ($10 for students) in the equipment room. 

MONDAY
-Open climbing at the Nate Lowe wall in the Field House! 8:00-10:00 PM

TUESDAY
-Polar Bear Swim: join us for a refreshing dip in the Green River.  Meet on Paresky steps at 9 PM, and don’t forget to bring warm clothes, a flashlight, and a towel. Email Scott at stw1 with questions.
 -New IM Training: "The best climber in the world is the one having the most fun" (Alex Lowe), so come join the best in the world for Instructor/Monitor (IM) training at the climbing wall!  Please see the attached application for more information regarding the application process, training schedule, and IM responsibilities. Feel free to email Dave Ackerson ([log in to unmask]) or Josh Cantor ([log in to unmask]) with any questions.

WEDNESDAY
-Weekly WOC meeting: 7 PM in Schapiro Hall 141, all members are welcome!  Contact Noah at nlw4 or Gabe at gml1 to learn more.
-Open climbing at the Nate Lowe wall in the Field House! 8:00-10:00 PM
-Weekly Stonehill Camp Out and Stargazing (weather permitting): meet outside the WOC office in Paresky at 10:00 PM, bring (or check out IF you have a current WOC membership) a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, headlamp, water, and extra warm clothes. Contact Muzhou at ml4 with questions.

THURSDAY
-Open climbing at the Nate Lowe wall in the Field House! 8:00-10:00 PM  

FRIDAY
-Sunrise Hike: up Pine Cobble!  Meet at Chapin Steps at 6 AM, we will return to campus by 8:45AM.
 -Fire Lighting Workshop: Make fire with sticks! Poker Flats fire pit, 4:00pm Contact Adie at aam3 if interested, or just stop by!

SATURDAY
-Day Hike - Contact Ben at brk1 if interested.
-Gourmet Backpacking Overnight - A one-night gourmet backpacking trip led by Sonja Thalheimer, Sarah Vukelich, and Lucy Bergwall! We will be going up the Broad Brook Trail to the Seth Warner Shelter on the AT just north of the Vermont border. Rather than having the standard fare of hiking trips, we will be bringing along delicious culinary creations to make this adventure extra special! We plan to leave campus around 3pm on Saturday and return around 10am on Sunday. If you are interested, please email Lucy at [log in to unmask] to sign up by Tuesday the 18th!

SUNDAY
- BBBBB (Bike to Bennington for Brunch at the Blue Benn)! - leaving from Paresky steps 8am.  BYOB - bring your own bike.  26 mile round-trip (with food halfway, don’t forget $ for your brunch!).  Contact Lucy at ljb1 or Lucie at lmc1 if interested.
-Canoe Day Trip: Contact Will at wbe1 if interested.
-Fall Festival at Hopkins Memorial Forest: Celebrate the fall at Hopkins Forest from 1-4 PM! The Festival includes traditional woodworking demonstrations, apple butter and cider production, and a canopy walkway.  There will also be refreshments and music!
